BAND OF BADGERS PRESENTS…PODCAST #37

June 29, 2015 by Robb Powell

As it felt like an absolute Age since I recorded podcast #43 when I came to record #44 recently, it too feels like forever since I blogged the last one (which was #27 ‘from the archives’). I think it will be time to take a break from the podcasts again soon so the next two I put together (#45 & #46) will be 2 final 2 hour shows after which I will come back to them in a few months perhaps. I was going to end with the one 2 hour show but as I was playlisting the music the list just became endless so rather than having to be ultra extra brutal and leave so much out, I just thought get on with it and do the two.

Back to series 3 here though and #37 kicked off with some serious kickass tuneage! As I make clear I do try to avoid like-for-like comparisons with these awesome indie bands because their originality and the quality of it deserves so much more attention than merely describing who they might sound similar to. Sometimes though, this cannot be helped and as I’d recently been listening to Only By Night by the mighty Kings of Leon I couldn’t help associate the epic quality of Shake Me Down with something akin to the Kings. Broken Witt Rebels have a unique sound all their own, that must not be mistaken so what are you waiting for? Go check them out NOW if this is the first you’re reading/hearing about them. Speaking In Shadows who follow them on the playlist have an equally, if different epic sound so make sure you bookmark their name/pages to hear more as well.

Before cracking on with the show, Editors have released another new song by way of a video. Yet more salivation induced for their forthcoming new album. And tour, of course. Yes, I must try and refrain from booking up any more gigs October as it is already looking chocka and we are only just about to begin July.

A gig coming up this week though will be the magnificent White Clouds And Gunfire who I’m really stoked to be seeing again after missing them at Easter. They are supporting the now veterans that are Funeral For A Friend. I cannot believe this will be my first time seeing this band considering I’ve been a fan of them for well over ten years!

radio kcAlso check out this delicious tune from The Envy Corps. This was a freebie so don’t miss out on this one if it is in fact still available. Even if you’re cash-strapped like yours truly, free music still counts as exposure and help for the band when they are offering it. Live it, love it, share it, grab it! I am still needing to soak up so much more from this band but it is locked in and ready.

Okay then, as time is short let’s get on with blogging show #37.
