Curse the manflu. But for it, I would have got to see the incredible White Clouds & Gunfire at a free gig in a nearby town last night. Alas, it bested me and after a day spent in bed sleeping and trying to feel better it became apparent I should not venture out lest I wanted to get worse. It is frustrating when this happens. I recall way back in October 2013 I had a bout of the damn thing and with it a really bad persistent loud cough. The dilemma then was do I go to the Blair Dunlop gig I was really looking forward to and risk spoiling the enjoyment of many seated near me as I coughed all through Blair’s superb performance or should I stay home. I stayed home and have not been able to get to a Blair gig since. Damn it! Anywho, let’s not be negative as opportitunies will present themelves to see all the bands/musicians some time soon I am certain. And if not, perhaps I could have them all back here to do a living room concert? Not sure the cats would appreciate that but you never now. They might just enjoy it. And get lots of fuss. Except Watson of course who prefers just to glare at you then run off.
A quick couple of shares from the bands I’m missing then. Also on the line up for this epic free gig were:
THE YOUNG & RESTLESS
ALL TIED UP
WHITE CLOUDS & GUNFIRE
And of course headlining following the release of their fantastic brand new single Chaos, and marking the first night of a set of tour dates were White Clouds & Gunfire. So gutted I missed this. I’m going to go cry now, you hit play and enjoy the new single.
Okay, I’ve stopped crying so as I am gradually blogging the older podcasts from series 2, I also need to tie this in with blogging the current series of new shows. So here we have show #35 which came a fair while after the first of the new series, #34. Still, all good things come to those who wait and there’s a playlist of incredibly good things for you here.
Opening up in style is some funky alternative rock from Waiting For Hollywood, You Me At Six & an outstanding drum cover by Joe Reece of Paramore‘s Misery Business. Then it’s time to get local with Sean Grant & The Wolfgang followed by Peter Marchant before this show’s live session comes from Manchester’s The Slow Readers Club. Local again for a brand new demo from Kenneth J Nash, a cracking song from David Bronson‘s new album Questions before some really inspiring music from the young Sammy Brue.
Hot off their stunning new album Mount The Air comes Madam from the incredible The Unthanks followed by Silje Liervik’s delightful voice. Classics Corner comes from Neneh Cherry & Youssou N’Dorr before song 2of4 of the current Levellers feature plays us out.
